Renewable energy sources have been a topic of discussion around the world for many years. As time passes, and the world sees the end of the fossil fuel era closing in, the discussions about renewable energy have become more frequent and more urgent. We have known for many years that powering our world with coal or oil based fuels was not only bad for the environment, but that eventually would run out. Wind power while not utilized by DPI Energy, is the second most discussed type of renewable dpi energy. The use of wind power seems to be overtaking solar power as a source of energy in many places. Wind farms are starting to dot the landscape in many parts of the world. In areas that receive a lot of wind this type of power source is a very attractive answer to the power needs of the future. The drawback of wind power is that wind generators require a lot of open space in order to make full use of the wind. This means that urban areas will not be able to make use of wind power because of the buildings and other structures that block the wind.
Man has been using the renewable energy provided by water to get work done for centuries. The Egyptians, the Romans, and many other ancient cultures harnessed the power of water in order to grind grain, heat and cool their homes, and many other uses. Modern man has found even more ways to harness the power of water.
Hydroelectricity is a form of kinetic energy that can be harnessed when moving water is used to turn a turbine. The turning turbine in then creates usable energy in the form of electricity. This type of power plant is usually found on a river where the continuously moving water is used to spin the turbine. This type of fuel is made from the grease and other organic materials that are left after cooking and other activities. Fuel pellets made of corn, wheat, rice, and other renewable plants are becoming popular for heating homes.
